Many people who are thinking of ways to improve their appearance and feel better about themselves consider some type of cosmetic dentistry. Cosmetic dentistry focuses on the appearance of your mouth, teeth and smile. Cosmetic procedures are usually elective, but there are some cases of treatment that also may provide restorative benefits. Common procedures used in cosmetic dentistry can be rather simple, but others are more complex and need specialized care.
Other types of cosmetic dentistry procedures include:
Dental veneers are made from medical grade ceramic material and are individually molded for each patient to resemble their natural teeth. Veneers look amazingly realistic and can alleviate many cosmetic problems, including crooked teeth, damaged enamel, or even gaps between two teeth. Dr. Malik will apply a veneer to the front of each tooth using an adhesive.
Dental implants are used to replace teeth after tooth loss. An oral surgeon will insert a titanium screw into the jaw where the tooth is missing. This will support the crown that Dr. Malik will deliver. Your implant crown will look and function just like a healthy, natural tooth!
Also known as indirect fillings, these are usually made in a dental laboratory, and are appropriate for a tooth with mild to moderate decay where there is insufficient tooth structure to support a filling. In most cases, the inlay is placed directly onto the tooth surface. However, if the cusp of the tooth is damaged, an onlay is used to cover the tooth’s entire surface.
